Become a Leader

Why:

  • Leading a troop is a wonderful opportunity to share with your daughter and her friends.

Who:

  • Any adult can lead a troop.
  • A man can be a leader if he has a non-related female as a co-leader.
  • We recommend enlisting the help of all parents in the troop.

What:

  • An application and background check are required.
  • Free, local training classes are provided by the Girl Scout council.
  • Three classes are required during the first four months.
  • The first class is a pre-requisite for scheduling the first meeting.
  • All leaders have activity/leader guides available for use.

Where:

  • We recommended that troops meet in public facilities (ex:. schools, churches, rec centers).

When:

  • Troops can form at any time, generally they begin in the fall.
  • Troops can meet as regularly as permitted by the leader's and girls' schedules.
  • Troops can meet on the day and at the time that is most convenient for leader and troop.
