Who Are We?

Girl Scouts of Tanasi Council serves 16 counties in East Tennessee and over 13,000 girls and adults. Headquartered in Knoxville, the council sponsors more than 200 program events and opportunities for girls annually.

Through troop and group program activities, Girl Scouts give service hours back to their communities in East Tennessee. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls in East Tennessee develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like leadership, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self worth. 

Girl Scouts of the USA is the world's preeminent organization for girls, with a membership of more than 4 million girls and adults.  Girl Scouting helps cultivate values, social conscience and self-esteem in young girls, while also teaching them critical life skills that will enable them to succeed as adults. In Girl Scouting - and its special girl-only environment - girls, ages 5-17, discover the fun, friendship and power of girls together.

Program      

Girl Scouts of Tanasi Council, through innovative, fun, relevant, and diverse program and adult mentors, will provide an emotionally secure place for girls to develop to their full potential. These girls will have strong self-esteem, an understanding of healthy lifestyles, respect for their environment, and leadership skills. They will be empowered, involved, and support their community with strong values, spiritual compassion, and peer support.

Diversity      

Girl Scouts of Tanasi Council will affirm its commitment to pluralism by identifying and eliminating practices that create barriers to full participation and ensure that its membership fully reflects the diversity of its jurisdiction.

Visibility      

Girl Scouts of Tanasi Council will position itself as the leading organization for girls in East Tennessee, advocating issues relevant to the healthy development of girls and young women, and enhancing the image of Girl Scouting as a contemporary, exciting, unique, and visionary organization.

Funding      

Girl Scouts of Tanasi Council will achieve an expanded and diversified financial base that reflects an increase in community funding, and ensures greater opportunities to serve girls in East Tennessee.
