Girl Scouts offer unique recruitment opportunitiesKnoxville, Tennessee (September 8, 2007): Girl Scouts of Tanasi Council is offering an exciting opportunity for girls. At special recruitment events, girls will be able to join Girl Scouts and earn their first patch or badge within hours. It’s a wonderful opportunity for girls,” says Tanasi Council’s Lissa Frank, director of membership. “The girls have the excitement of joining Girl Scouts and immediately enjoying the fun and satisfaction of an accomplishment. Three “Join Today and Earn a Badge” events are coming up soon. First, Girl Scouts are invited to join at the TVA Fair on September 15. Tanasi Council representatives will be registering girls in the Jacob Building and giving girls guidance to earn the “Food and Fiber” patch/badge at the fair. Girls are also eligible to join Girl Scouts and join a patch at the Knoxville Zoo on September 22, 2007, from 10 a.m.—2 p.m. After signing up, girls are given a scavenger hunt map to learn about animals and earn the “Zoo Fun” patch. Finally, girls are invited to attend Tanasi Council’s giant slumber party on October 19, 2007, at the Crowne Plaza Ballroom in downtown Knoxville. Girls must register from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. with their parent or guardian. They will spend the night having fun with arts and crafts, dancing, girl talk and working on badges connected with Tanasi Council’s “The World In Our Hands” stewardship program. They will also earn a patch commemorating the event. The lock-in lasts until 7:30 the following Saturday morning.
