Tanasi Council's 16 County CoverageGirl Scouts have been in East Tennessee since the early 1900's. Throughout our history, we have undergone several changes as councils have combined to offer improved opportunities for Girl Scouts. In 1956, the Knox and Blount county councils merged to form Tanasi Council (pronounced Tuh-NAH-see, it is an American-Indian world for Tennessee). In 1965, the Highland Rim Council joined Tanasi Council. Tanasi Council is proud to serve the following 16 counties in East Tennessee:
