Volunteer Training Good Training Makes a Good Experience
Training is required for all volunteer positions. Training is critical, not only because it offers basic job skills, but because it provides a volunteer with an important support network and resources to help make the job easier. Training is the Girl Scout way of equipping volunteers with the necessary tools to deliver good program. Very often training will make the difference between a volunteer who is frustrated and a volunteer who is enjoying working with Girl Scouts.
For this reason Girl Scouts of Tanasi Council follows the policy established by Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. It states:
“Every adult in Girl Scouting must be selected on the basis of qualifications for membership, ability to perform the job, and willingness and availability to participate in training for it.”
Girl Scouting not only provides an excellent program for girls; we are committed to providing our adult volunteers with support, training and recognition. Parents and leaders alike are encouraged to participate in all volunteer activities including training and recognitions. Parents may wish to consult with troop leaders to determine where their talents can be put to best use for the whole troop or the local service unit support system.
Each training course offers fun, challenging material to help leaders deliver the Girl Scout program to girls. These courses are designed to help leaders get organized, gain knowledge from other leaders and learn about the numerous opportunities available to girls.
