Girl Scouts at the Tennessee Valley Fair

The Tennessee Valley Fair offers many exciting opportunities for Girl Scout troops.

Girl Scouts will have fun experiencing hands-on exhibits and seeing exciting displays, such as the shark exhibit and planetarium show.

The 2008 fair is September 5-14 at Chilhowee Park in Knoxville.  Girl Scout day at the Fair is September 13. The fee is      discounted to $3, and a series of stations will be set up to allow girls to earn the Jasper Patch. The first 2,500 Girl Scouts to attend will also receive a special patch from the fair.Individual Girl Scouts may enter competitions and have their work displayed in the following categories:
  • Daisy and Brownie Girl Scouts: swaps, sit upons, holiday crafts, puppets, dolls and stuffed animals.
  • Junior, Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts: swaps, sewing for service, holiday craft cake decorations and photography.

     

Girl Scout Art Exhibit at the Blount Mansion Visitor’s Center Gallery

Girl Scouts ages 5 -17 throughout the council are displaying their art work in a public Gallery Exhibit during the month of May at the Visitor’s Center near Blount Mansion in downtown Knoxville. Visit the show to see artwork in mixed media, drawings, paintings, sculpture, photography, stained glass, mobiles or textiles.  The show continues through the end of May.
