Welcome To Our FamilyWe are the best organization for girls in the world. As they become responsible and caring women, our girls have a great time in Girl Scouts. And so do we. We hope you enjoy learning more about us on our Web site. Girl Scouting is celebrating its 95th birthday. Begun in Savannah, Georgia, by a spunky woman named Juliette Gordon Low (nicknamed “Daisy”) to help girls discover their confidence, define their character and develop their courage—our mission remains unchanged. Badges, patches and uniforms have changed over the years as girls define what they think is “cool” and important to them, but the core purpose of the Girl Scout program is what it has always been—to honor ourselves, each other and God, give back to our families and communities, develop a moral compass that will guide our actions through our lifetime, be a role model for others and acquire skills to leave the world better than we found it. We have grown to approximately 4 million girls since 1912. Tanasi Council serves 13,000 girls and adults in 16 East Tennessee counties. We cross all racial, religious, geographic and economic lines as we strive to serve girls five years of age through high school. We believe in the power of girls and invite you to join us on this marvelous journey with them. For our girls, ![]() Lucille Griffo ![]() Glenda Johnson
